So according to the Church it's now ok to ordain women as Bishops... about bloody time in my opinion.
I might wind some friends up with this but I simply don't believe that you have to be a bloke to be promoted in the ranks of religion, it's a ridiculous little loophole that for years has been an acceptable form of discrimination.
Now it's happened some of the panty-twisting from traditionalists has been breathtaking in it's extremity...
Firstly, they wanted some men (read all men) to be redesignated as "Super Bishops" which people have rightly suggested would lead to a two tier religion...
"Oh Mavis, I wasn't sure about our normal bishop but that Super Bishop, he REALLY knows how to do confession... and he does look smart with his underpants over his cassock..."
We then get all the usual calvacade of idiotic soundbites such as this one from The Bishop of Fulham, the Right Raving John Broadhurst:
"I think a lot of us have made it quite clear if there isn't proper provision for us to live in dignity, inevitably we're driven out."
Dignity?
Dignity?
Where does fricking dignity come in you imbecile? Are you suggesting you have less dignity because they've decided women can do your job just as well as you can?
Pah, men in dresses, always trouble.
OK, I'll stop being controversial now.

No, please continue, I was really enjoying it!
It is a progress that we must cheer over. And if someone mentions that Jesus only choose men as his disciples, then just remind that person that in Jesus' time society was so sexist that a woman's testimony wasn't considered. Now we live in more enlightened times, we have to keep up or we get stuck with the old relic bishops!
Also, even Paul acknowledged that women led some of the early churches, so these people should probably go back and look at some Christian History! As far as I can see it, there isn't anything unGodly about having a female bishop.
